What is Multi-Level Marketing?

Multi-level Marketing, or MLM, is a marketing strategy which creates a down line of distributors and a hierarchy of multiple levels of compensation. The sales force is compensated not only for their own sales but also for the sales of the people they help recruit. Firms, having a large product base, often cannot employ equivalent sales force; and believe they would be better off without the traditional approach. MLM is also known as Network Marketing because it utilizes a network of individual customers to hit other potential customers. In other words, every individual customer serves as a sales representative.

Your circle of influence, warm list, cold list, family and friends, school mates, work acquaintances, etc. These are the name lists that your upline will ask you to compile so that you can call them and invite them to your company’s business presentation or product demonstration. Else, you may even have to meet up with them yourself to do the presentation. Either way, most newbie marketers are filled with fear at the though of having to call their name list and being rejected. It’s unavoidable. Network marketing has a high level of rejection and you must to learn to take ‘No’ in your stride. That’s why it’s important that you believe in the company and product you are representing. One principle that has helped me tremendously in coping with rejection is the SW principle. Everytime someone says ‘No’ to you, just repeat this to yourself:

Just remember that the next eagle out there could be waiting for this business opportunity and they’re just waiting for someone (YOU!) to present this opportunity to them. Rome wasn’t built in a day. Neither will your organization be built in a day. It requires persistence and focused efforts.
